Psychodynamic Counsellor (13 years +)

Leena is one of our Psychodynamic therapists whose training specialised in working with teenagers and young people, but Leena also works with adults. She has been working at the Turner Centre since qualifying in 2020.

She has experience of working in both primary and secondary schools with children and teenagers struggling with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties including school phobia, anger management, self-harm, abuse, anxiety and eating disorders.

She sees adults as well and prides herself on her ability to provide an empathic space and offers a regular, safe and confidential space for people to explore and discuss their problems and difficult feelings. Her aim is to help people to overcome issues that are causing emotional pain, anxiety or generally feeling uncomfortable. She won’t tell you what to do; instead she will encourage you to talk about what is bothering you, and by working together, she can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and make sense of your feelings and emotions. Looking at past experiences, and ways of relating to others can be helpful when trying to understand current issues.

When working with young people 16 and under, Leena will firstly have a consultation session with the parent/caregiver to get a better understanding of the situation, followed by an assessment with the young person.

Leena holds a Masters Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling, a BSc in Psychology and a Post Grad Cert in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regents University. Leena also has a Certificate in Systemic Practice.
